Hello friends! Welcome to BUDSENDER, a new campaign to show a little extra gratitude to some of the cannabis industry’s hardest workers, our budtenders, and to draw attention to the wage disparity that exists within the retail sector. The role of a Budtender is often referred to as a “low-skilled” or “entry level” position, despite the knowledge, experience and skills that are required to do the job successfully. We understand how much goes into the role, and what it takes to be a strong leader in the field, as well as the community, so we’re trying to show some love in a meaningful way that at least picks up the dinner bill for the evening, or helps top up the stash after rent and bills have been paid for the month.
We’ve witnessed the awards, we’ve been to the events, and we’ve seen very little done to empower budtenders that isn’t essentially just a cash grab. So please, join us in our endeavors by either nominating a budtender, spreading the word, or connecting with us if you would like to be involved in creating a limited drop of your own!
Self nominations are always welcome! Every submitted name will be added to the nomination pool indefinitely, or until they are selected. Multiple nominations of the same budtender will not increase their chances, as we want to keep things as fair as possible for everyone involved! Once a month (or sometimes more) we will select a winner and send them a limited edition box of goodies, including some of their fave consumables, rare merch and $50 cash. We hope this little campaign can spread some joy to some of our industry’s hardest (yet, underpaid) workers.
